Secretarial Steering Committee Needed - 3/5/08 EC Minutes

Minutes of the Meeting of the
CHSSA Executive Committee
Wednesday, March 5, 2008, 4:00 p.m.
Grotto’s Grand Slam, Lewes, DE




Present were Ed Murauskas, President; Mary Beth D'Amico, Treasurer; Peggy Kirby, Negotiations Chair and CHHS rep; Virginia Griffith, RES; Donna Hartnett, RSE, Diane Huff, MES; Diane Parseghian, MMS; Dolores, Rubolin, DO; Lorraine James, BMS; Woody Stocks, NGC; Charlie Shaffer, DSEA.

�    Secretary Job Descriptions update � Charlie is trying many avenues to secure a facilitator.  He asked Peggy to form a steering committee made up of representative of all secretarial groups.  This committee will work with the facilitator and the district, then communicate as needed with district secretaries.
�    DEEDS � Members expressed concern because they’re unsure about permit renewal requirements.  Alfred Best, CHSD Personnel, has agreed to address concerns in a meeting, date and time to be determined.
�    April 23 � Since we have had two snow days, members are wondering whether this date, currently a day off for paras, will be offered as a CHIP day.  Mary Beth D'Amico is awaiting a reply from Dr. Kelley.
�    Membership � Walt Goering, Vice President and Membership Chair � Walt was unable to attend; therefore, no report.
�    Winter Advocacy Retreat � Walt and Woody attended and found it very informative.
�    Custodial Liaison Committee � Walt is asking building reps to “push” the CLC to their custodians.
�    ESP Conference � Personal invitations were mailed. Dolores, Walt and Lorraine (BMS) will attend.  This is open to any CHSSA member and there is no cost.
�    DSEA Representative Assembly � Call for RA Agenda items. Ed will attend; two members may accompany him.  Anyone interested should contact an officer. (from dsea.org) April 11-12, 2008, Dover Downs. Of special interest will be a Gubernatorial Debate with all four of the current candidates. It will be held Saturday, April 12 from 9-10:30am. More information soon.

�    For the good of the cause  -
➢    President’s Dues Reimbursement:  Woody made the following motion:  CHSSA would cease reimbursement of dues to its president effective with the 2005-06 school year.  Virginia Griffith seconded the motion.  There being only one vote to the negative, the motion carried.
➢    RIF List � Ed asked reps to be sure all support staff members check their building’s draft RIF list, currently posted, and report any corrections to Alfred Best immediately.
➢    “Topping Off” Ceremony � Ed represented CHSSA at a ceremony acknowledging the placing of the last beam in the new high school yesterday.  He signed his name as president of CHSSA on beam #614.
