Memo of Understanding Approved at 1/2/08 EC Meeting

Minutes of the Meeting of the
CHSSA Executive Committee
Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 4:00 p.m.
Grotto’s Grand Slam, Lewes, DE

Present were Ed Murauskas, President; Walt Goering, Vice President and Membership Chair; Mary Beth D’Amico, Treasurer; Peggy Kirby, Negotiations Chair and CHHS rep; Brenda Coverdale, HOB rep; Jean Read, NGC; Virginia Griffith, RES rep; Diane Huff, MES rep; Dolores Rubolin, DO rep; Lorraine James, BMS rep; Woody Stocks, SEC at NGC; and Charlie Shaffer, DSEA Uni-Serv Director.

�    Contract Ratification � Charlie Shaffer distributed copies of a “Memorandum of Understanding” for the committee’s approval.  The memo, a copy of which is attached to the paper minutes, basically states that the CHSD and CHSSA agree to an objective assessment of all secretarial positions “ . . . to align jobs and pay categories/lanes so that like work, function, skills, education and responsibility are paid under the same salary column (State, Local, or both).”  After lengthy discussion, Walt moved to approve the memo.  Peggy seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.


�    Membership � Walt Goering, Vice President and Membership Chair � Roster Update � CHSSA has exceeded its membership goal for this school year.  There is an additional incentive offered beginning 1/1/08.  Any current member who recruits a new member will receive $20; if the new member contributes to the Children’s Fund, the current member will receive $25.
�    DSEA's Winter Advocacy Retreat � Atlantic Sands, Rehoboth, February 29 � March 2. Those who should attend Winter Advocacy Retreat include local leadership team members, local executive board members, AR’s and members responsible for implementing local goals, and all potential leaders for the local. Woody will attend.  Anyone else should see Mary Beth D'Amico if interested. CHSSA will pay your tuition. Registration deadline is January 31, 2008.

�    For the good of the cause  - DSEA Representative Assembly is April 11 � 12 at Dover Downs.  We need 3 members to attend.  Anyone interested should contact an officer.
