CHSSA Executive Committee
Meeting Minutes
January 6, 2010
Cape Henlopen HS Library
The meeting was brought to order by President Ed Murauskas at 4:05pm.
New Business
Membership Roster - Ed advised that we are responsible for getting the justified membership roster to
the Dover office of DSEA by January 15th.  Ed said all building reps will have to have their rosters checked and back to Jean Read by January 8th.

Professional Development Dr. Kelley has given his approval for all Building reps and the executive board to attend a workshop dedicated to training Building Representatives in how to best represent their members should the need arise.  The workshop will be held on January 22nd at Mariner Middle School library at 12 noon and will end at approx. 3pm.  DSEA will be conducting the workshop.
All building reps and Executive Board members are expected to attend.  Lunch will be provided.  The afternoon of the 22nd is a regularly scheduled District In-service day.
DSEA Representative Assembly  This is a comprehensive convention showing how we run our association within the State.  Registration deadline is March 10th.
The DSEA Representative Assembly is April 16th and 17th at the Rollins Center at Dover Downs.  There is no limit on how many from each local can attend, however, only 3 can take part in the voting process.  A $30.00/person fee is required.  Our local cannot pay for this because it goes towards a Political Action Account.  It was suggested that a 50/50 raffle could cover this expense.  Ed will bring all 50/50 info on the 22nd for building reps to take back to their building to sell, before and after school.  Ed will also check with DSEA on whether accountability receipts are necessary in this case.
Old Business
Negotiation Surveys - All the surveys have been tallied and Charlie Shaffer has them.  The next negotiation team meeting will be January 27th at 4:45pm at Beacon Middle School.  Please confirm with Peggy on your expected attendance.
Negotiation Training Weekend  - Jim Coverdale and Jean Read have not heard where or when the training will be held this upcoming weekend. They both did register to attend. Peggy could not advise as she had not registered.  Jean will try to contact Betty Cash.
Wireless Access For President - Ed does not want to pursue this further.  Joan asked Ed to please continue to get Richard Davis to give him access in each building he travels to.  Ed confirmed he would.
Buildings without Representation  - All buildings have representatives except for Mariner Middle School.  Ed will serve as that building representative for now.  The District Office is not covered but there are also no members presently working at the DO.
For the Good of the Cause
DSEA Advocacy Retreat - Joan reported that a flyer was mailed to members homes for the retreat, however, it was noted that the location, dates and times for the retreat were not listed.  Joan will follow up with Debbie Stevens.  Ed mentioned that anyone wishing to attend was welcome.  Registration fee of $60.00 will be covered by the Union.  Registration deadline is February 1st.
Since this meeting Joan printed additional flyers that included all necessary info and mailed them to each Building Representative for posting and distribution within their buildings.  The retreat will be held in Rehoboth Beach at the Atlantic Sands Hotel beginning on Friday evening February 26th, all day Saturday the 27th, and finishes Sunday Morning the 28th.  Questions please contact any CHSSA Officer - Ed, Lisa, Joan, or Mary Beth.
The next meeting will be February 3rd at 4pm in Cape Henlopen Library.  Mary Beth will follow up with one of the Milton Schools for access for March meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:10pm.
Minutes respectfully submitted by Joan Williamson
