Meeting Minutes
March 31, 2010, 4pm
H.O. Brittingham Elementary School
The meeting was brought to order by President, Ed Murauskas at 4:00 pm
New Business
Membership Report - It was discovered that the report submitted to us as correct by the District Office during negotiations is in error. The report is under review, but the anticipated enrollment in the support staff union is approximately 60-65% of all support staff.
Scholarships
Mary Beth D'Amico reported that only 2 members have submitted their dependent children for eligibility for the Continuing Education Scholarship. Any members who have graduating seniors who are pursuing a higher education are eligible for the $200.00 scholarship. Please submit your students name to Mary Beth no later than May 3rd for processing.
Bus Drivers/Monitors
Charlie Shaffer advised that he met with administrators and bus drivers and it was agreed that drivers would not loose pay for the State of Emergency days this past school year. However, they will have to make up the 4 snow days through available in-service opportunities.
Old Business
DSEA Representative Assembly - Ed advised that no one will be attending from Cape this year, and suspects that too many are attending meetings involving negotiations and cannot do more.
ESP Conference - Will be held May 1st in Dover, registrations are still being taken through April 23rd on the DSEA web site. This conference is open to all members and is free of charge. Beau Biden and NEA Executive Committee Member Paula Monroe will be the Keynote Speakers. The day is spent listening to talks and taking educational workshops. Please feel free to register.
Negotiations-Peggy advised that an agreement between CHSD and CHSSA has not been made. CHSSA has submitted a written request to the Public Employment Relations Board for the appointment of a mediator. The mediator will assist both parties in securing an agreement on a new contract. We expect the mediator to be working with both parties through the months of April and May. A bulletin was distributed to all members of the negotiations team.
Next Meeting - Due to ongoing negotiations, our next meeting date will be advised at a later time.
