Ed
welcomed and thanked those able to attend.
They were, Lisa Thorp, Molly Siple, Jeannie Morris, Mary Beth D’Amico,
Joe Kirk and Joan Williamson.
We
are still in need of building reps for MMS and BMS. It was also restated that if you cannot
attend most of the monthly executive board meetings than please do not
volunteer. It is the job of building
reps to make sure that all members are kept current on all union news. We appreciate your help - thanks.
Treasurers
Report
- Mary Beth reported we have $6,237.62 in our account.
A
unanimous vote was taken to accept the proposed budget for 2012/2013.
Nominations are
Open
-Ed reminded everyone that this year all four officers positions will come up
for reelection. Building reps will be
receiving colored flyers to display in employee lounge areas and are being
asked to put a xerox copy of the flyer in each members mailbox. Please encourage members to participate by
volunteering to serve as a board member.
Any names for nomination can be sent to Joan @ joan.williamson@cape.k12.de.us. Or in the district mail to Joan at HOB. Nominations will be accepted through April
and the ballots will be counted at our May meeting.
ESP Dinner - All three
bids were reviewed and everyone agreed that although we have been happy with
the Greene Turtle in the past, it would be nice to have a venue that can offer
us our own room. Although both
Annabelles and Bethany Blues are able to do this all agreed on Bethany
Blues. Joan will send out invitations
and all building reps will be responsible to distribute to all members and
return to Joan by November 7th, no exceptions.
New Shirts - Mary Beth
reported that one shirt has gone missing from RES. Each building rep must make sure that the
case of shirts remain in a secure location until all members have tried them on
for size and placed their orders. The
samples are presently at Shields and will go from there to SEC, Cape, HOB, MES,
MMS, and BMS. Again the shirts are to be exchanged between building
reps - NOT SENT THROUGH DISTRICT MAIL. In the case of BMS and MMS please contact Ed
to get the shirts to those schools.

Bargaining - Our next
meeting with the DO will be October 24th. Joe Kirk explained that there were four
issues of priority shared by both CHEA and CHSSA; they are medical benefits and
how much the DO is donating to the cost,
Flex
plan, Family dental plan, and wages. The
hold up on the contracts has been --with Wages in addition to issues that are
just pertinent to CHEA and others to CHSSA.
It was also explained that the Board can change dental carriers, but
cannot change the “cap” without agreement from both unions.
Grievances - Joe Kirk
reported that two custodians are involved in a Level 3 grievance. Both have been repeatedly denied the
opportunity to make lateral transfers.
The association will move to the next level.
DSEA Political
Action
- Joe reported that he Ed, Mary Beth, and members from other locals gathered
Monday to Interview all three senatorial candidates, Andy Staton, Ernie Lopez,
and Gwendolyn Jones. The committee will
make a recommendation to DSEA. If DSEA
approves board members will be advised which candidate DSEA will support.
